Take A Chance On Me

I walked into the studio waiting for the other nineteen dancers to show up. We were auditioning for a band today. If we were picked we got to dance with them on tour for the year. “Thank you for coming everyone.” A woman said walking through the studio doors, “The band is here so let’s get started shall we?” I saw four guys walk through the door.  They sat down in chairs at a table. The one in the last chair kept looking in my direction. The music to Just in Love by Joe Jonas started playing as we all did the choreography. As I danced I saw him smiling at me. After the song stopped the guys picked who they wanted to dance with one by one. After three of them picked the last one scanned all of us. His eyes stopped on me smiling. “I want her,” he replied. “Alright if you weren’t chosen please leave, everyone else, we’ll pick up in about twenty.” The woman said walking out. I left with the other dancers going to the vending machine. I reached down getting my candy bar when I heard someone say, “Hey.” I looked up to see the guy who picked me. “Hi,” I said walking past him. “Hey wait up, my name’s Aston,” he said, “What’s yours?” “Marina, why?” “Just trying to make conversation, we are going to be dancing together, you don’t have to get an attitude,” he said and walked off. I leaned against the wall. Great, someone else I pushed away… Fifteen minutes later I was walking back into the dance room doors.

“Let’s introduce everyone shall we,” the woman said. “I’m Marvin,” the one said. “I’m IB,” the other said. “I’m Ortise,” the next one said. “And I’m Aston,” the last one, the one I was dancing with said. “I’m Marina,” I said. “My name is Keshani,” the next girl said. “My name is Kylie,” the next girl said. “I’m Haley,” the final girl said. “Okay boys time to teach the girls the dances, don’t waste any time, see you all tomorrow,” the woman said leaving. We said goodbye to her then the boys all got with us. Haley and JB stood together, Marvin and Keshani, Ortise and Kylie, and me and Aston. “Okay guys, guess we better get started practicing, we’ve only got a month before the tour,” Marvin said. Ortise went turning on the music. We started doing the steps. “Look Aston, I’m sorry about earlier,” I said. He looked at me, “It’s alright, don’t worry about it. I understand if you don’t want to have a conversation with me. Not like I’m your dance partner or anything.” “I said I’m sorry, why are you being a jerk for?” I responded. Ortise looked over concerned. “Doesn’t feel too good when it’s you does it?” I looked now, “I’m sorry.” I felt someone hug me. “I’m sorry too, just cause you’re mean to me, doesn’t mean I should be mean to you,” he whispered. I looked up at him. His eyes were amazing. I couldn’t look away. This can’t happen, I won’t do it again, I told myself and looked away quickly. We continued on dancing. About two hours later Marvin said we were done. Me and the girls had started talking in between breaks. “So shall we go out tonight girls? Get to know each other better?” Kylie asked. “Sure, I’m in,”Keshani said. “Yeah,” Haley replied. “Sounds good to me,” I answered. “Awesome,” Kylie replied. “You girls going out?” JB said overhearing us. “Yeah, why? Fancy coming along?” Haley asked. “If you’re offering, me and the boys would,” he said smiling at Haley. “Alright, we’ll meet you back here round ten, sound good, yeah?” she replied. “Alright,” he said. With that everyone left. What had I done, now I had to see Aston tonight too. How was I going to control myself…

I walked out of the building and started down the street to the train. A car pulled up beside me. I stopped which probably was a bad idea in case it was a weirdo watching the window roll down. Aston’s head popped out, “Hey, Marina, you need a ride?” “No, thank you. I’m going to take the train,” I said and kept walking.  “Awww, come on. Let me give you a ride,” he said getting out of his car and walking around opening the passenger door. He looked up smiling at me. I couldn’t help but smile back walking over and getting inside. He had an Audi so it was really nice inside. He got in and started driving. “So where do you live?” “I live in West London,” I replied. “Oh, really? Me too,” he answered. We talked a bit about random stuff, food, music, clothes. He pulled into my drive way and parked. I opened the door getting out, “Thanks for the ride Aston.” “You welcome,” he smiled, “and you can call me Ast.” I shut the door and started walking up the stairs when he yelled, “Hey, wait.” I turned around, “Yeah?” “Can I come back and get you later on tonight?”He asked, “You know for the thing with everyone?” “Okay, if you want to,” I replied. “Cool, I’ll be round yours bout nine,” he said. It was six now.  “Alright, I’ll be ready,” I said. “Okay, see you then,” he said driving off. I went inside and into the kitchen. I fixed some food and then went taking a shower. I went through my closet trying to figure out what to wear. It was weird going out alone after so long. I decided on a black mini dress with heels. By then after I got dressed it was round 8:40. I went into the living room flipping through the TV. At nine exactly my doorbell rang. I went and opened it. Aston or I guess Ast, was standing there with jeans and an open shirt. He looked pretty good. “Hey, you ready to go?” he asked. “Yeah,” I smiled following him out locking my door. He closed my door and we were on our way. The club was a hour drive away so we talked. Everything was fine until he asked “So, do you have a boyfriend?”as we drove. “No,” I said. “Oh, can I ask why?” he said. “It’s a long story,” I answered. “We’ve got all night,” he said smiling at me, “…If you wanna tell me.”  I thought and then started with what happened. “Well, we were together almost four years, and then he broke up with me, said I was boring and he wanted to be single, so about six months ago I moved over here, and I’ve been dancing,” I answered. “I’m sorry. I don’t think you’re boring, if that helps any,” he said, “Some guys are just not mature for a commitment.”  I smiled, “Thanks.” We pulled into the club getting out. Aston handed his keys to the valet guy and we made our way inside. It was dark lit up with flashing lights everywhere. “You’re going to dance with me right?” he yelled as we made it through the crowd to the VIP section. “Yeah, sure,” I smiled. “Take my hand,” he said smiling, “Don’t want you getting lost.” I took it and he held it tight as we went behind the curtains.

We walked through to the table. Everyone was already sitting down. “We were waiting for you,” Reesh said. “Yeah, time to go dance guys,” Marvin said pulling Keshani out to the floor. “We’ll be there in a sec,” Ast said. “Suit yourself,” Haley replied going after everyone else. “Do you want a drink?” Ast asked. “Sure,” I said. “Okay, I’ll be right back,” he said walking towards the bar. I saw him standing, waiting, smiling at me. I smiled back before sitting down at the table.  He started coming back my way with our drinks when a girl stopped him. “Hey, you’re Aston from JLS right?” I heard her. “Um, yeah, I’m trying to go this way, excuse me,” he said. “Wait a second,” she said running her hand down his chest. His hand moved hers, “I said excuse me.” He kept walking towards me before closing the curtains between us and the staircase that separated us and the floor below. “I’m back,” he said smiling. “Hey,” I replied taking my drink. “Sorry about that, some girls see us in here and they’re gold digging eyes just light up,” he laughed. “It’s alright,” I said. We drank our drinks and sat talking for a bit. “Ready for a dance now?” he asked standing up. “Yeah, sure,” I took his hand. He lead us out onto the floor, close together. Givin’ Up by Jason Derulo came on. We started dancing in the crowd. The rest of the guys and girls found us and we all danced together. Aston held me close, his arms around me. I put my arms around his neck. ‘I’ve been searchin’ to find, finally found the one its’ you, I’m givin’ up, tell the world you’re mine….’ “Marina,” I heard Ast say. “Yeah?” I asked as we danced. “Can I kiss you?” he looked at me. I smiled, didn’t say anything. He smiled and leaned in. I closed my eyes and felt his mouth on mine. It was like fireworks going off inside me. It was perfect. He pulled away after a couple seconds. “I’m sorry Ast…I…I can’t..” I said turning and making my way through the crowd outside. I sat down on the curb stairs. I heard the metal doors slam and someone walk towards me….

I saw Aston sit down next to me. “Did I do something wrong?” “No, it’s not you Ast, you didn’t do anything,” I answered. “Then why’d you just walk away from me? Cause I don’t know about you, but I felt something when I kissed you,” he said. “I did too,” I replied looking up at him. “Then what’s wrong?” he took my hand. “I’m scared,” I said quietly. “Of?” “Being hurt again,” I said. “Look I know you just met me today okay, but that’s exactly why you shouldn’t think that. I’m not that guy you left back in the US, I’m not going to hurt you,” he said. “That’s what he said too, I won’t hurt you..i won’t leave…” “Well, yanno what, I’m not just going to say it, give me the chance to prove it to you, if I mess up then you can go, but until then, you should believe in me.” He was smiling at me. “I’m sorry Ast, alright,” I replied. We stood up and he hugged me. “Well, now that we’ve got that out of the day, I was thinking how about Friday night I take you out on a proper date?” “I’d like that,” I smiled. “How about we try that kiss again?” he smiled cheeky. I nodded. He leaned in and we stood there kissing. “I don’t know where they’ve gone Kylie,”I heard Reesh say. He was holding her hand. Me and Ast broke apart. “Ahhhh… there they are,” he pointed to us. “Come on, back inside you too,” he said holding the door open. We followed them back into the club, hand in hand.

Five months later:

Aston and I had been going out for five months now. He was so sweet to me. He made me forget all about my ex, almost. I’d moved into his house with him when my lease on my apartment was up.

I opened my eyes; the clock read 2:36 AM. I turned over seeing Aston sleeping. I smiled snuggling up against him. “Hey babe,” he said putting his arms around me. “Hey, sorry I didn’t mean to wake you up,” I replied. “It’s okay,” he kissed my forehead. “Why are you awake?” he asked. “I don’t know, just woke up. I’m kind of cold,” I answered.  It was the beginning of December. “Oh, well, then lay your head on my chest,” he pulled me on top of him putting the blanket all around us, “I’ll keep you warm.” I laid on him and drifted back to sleep. I woke back up in the morning at six to Aston hugging me, “Marina?” “Yeah Ast?” I asked turning over looking at him. “I’m…I’m falling in love with you …I love you,” he smiled, those amazing brown eyes looking at me, he moved my hair out of my face. “How do you know?” I whispered looking down. “Cause my heart skips a beat whenever I’m with you, you’re all I ever think about, I can’t wait to walk through the front door cause it means I get to see the girl that was made for me, you’re all I ever wanted,” he put his hand on my cheek moving my face up to him and he looked at me. I just stared back at him for a second trying to figure out how in the world he could be in love with me. “I love you too,” I said. He leaned in kissing me hard and then soft pulling me close. “I’m never letting you go,” he whispered. “You better not,” I replied. Aston laughed , “Don’t worry.”

The next month went well. Aston had surprised me with a vacation to Hawaii for a week. He’d went to Nando’s to get us dinner. While he was gone I’d started packing. He’d left his phone and it started vibrating. I clicked on it to see a text message. Hey babe, I miss you lots. – Katie. I went to his contacts and Katie was really pretty with blonde hair and blue eyes. Gorgeous if I’m being honest. I put his phone down and kept packing, maybe they were just friends right? No use in getting all worked up over nothing. It vibrated again. I love you Ast. Hope this makes up for last week. Sorry I couldn’t make it.-Katie. Another message popped up right after that one. I opened it and it was a picture of her in a bikini. I clicked his phone so it still showed it was unread and put it back. I couldn’t believe it. “Babe, I’ve got your fave….” I heard him yell shutting the door. I stopped packing and took a deep breath before walking downstairs.

I walked downstairs to where Ast was. “Hey babe,” he said sitting the food out on the table. “Hey,” I said sarcastically. “You okay?” he asked. “Yeah, I’m fine, just hungry,” I said, I got plates and sat down across from him as we ate. “So, are you all packed for Hawaii?” “No, not yet,” I answered and kept eating. After I was finished I got up going back upstairs. “Babe, wait for me,” Ast called after me. I just kept walking folding my clothes. “Can I have a hug?” he asked. I just kept folding. “Babe, what’s wrong?” he asked. “Nothing,” I said, “I’m fine Ast, aren’t you going to pack?” “Tell me what’s wrong, talk to me,” he said. “Okay, you wanna know what’s wrong? Who is Katie? Why is she sending you pictures of her in a bikini?””Katie?” “Yeah, Ast, Katie.” “She’s sending me pictures again? Uhhh God!” He sat down on the bed. He was quiet for a minute then started talking. “She’s my ex, I’ve changed my number got a new phone, she just can’t take a hint, I haven’t talked to her in like nine months, she’s like stalking me,.” “Then why’d she say sorry I couldn’t make it last week?” “She follows me and the boys round, I got a text saying she was comin to our radio tour last week, guess she didn’t show.” “Hmm..” “Look I’d never cheat on you okay, I told you, I’m not like that, if you want call her, tell her to leave me alone, cause she sure isn’t listening to me.” “I’m sorry,” I said. “Don’t have anything to be sorry for, I’d act the same if some guy was texting you like that, but I ‘m in love with you okay, I’m not going anywhere, I promise,” he said getting up hugging me. I smiled.

Aston had a gig with the boys and then we were going to be on our way to Hawaii.  We were in his car tuning into Capital FM in London … “Here’s the new one from JLS, Take a Chance on Me on Capital.”  “This song is for you,” Aston said taking my hand kissing it. I smiled. We got to the hotel where JLS were doing their interview. Once we got inside the other guys were waiting and Aston went in with them. They waved to me from the window. I went to the lobby waiting on Ast ,they’d be at least a hour. I went wondering in the gift shop. They were playing the interview throughout the hotel on the speakers. I heard Ast, “Yeah, I’ve got a girlfriend, she’s amazing. I’m in love.” “Awww…well that’s good to hear, yeah.” The interviewer said. About twenty minutes later the interview ended, the boys had me laughing, they were so funny. I walked to where they were coming out. By the time I got there they were gone. I went looking for them when I heard a voice, “Aston, come on, I know you’ve missed me…why don’t you just admit it to yourself huh?” I moved down the hallway. I peaked around the corner, I saw Aston, Katie moving onto him. “Look Katie, I’ve got a girlfriend who I’m in love with okay, so just please leave me alone.” She moved putting her hands around his neck rubbing against him, “But Ast…” “Katie…” he said. “Babe, what you doing?” I heard Reesh say. I put my finger to my lips and motioned towards the side. We both peaked our heads back to where they were. “Ast please…I know you still love me..” “Katie, stop,” Ast took her hands away. She looked angry and then leaned in kissing him. My heart broke as I saw it. He pushed her away, “What the hell are you doing? I told you, I have a girlfriend.” “But Ast..” she protested. “But nothing. Don’t ever come near me again. I don’t even know what you’re doing here today,” he said and started walking away. Me and Reesh turned to walk away when we heard Ast, “What are you guys doing up here?” “We saw Ast,” Reesh said and nodded to me walking away. “Marina, I can explain..She kissed me…” he said, his eyes started watering. “Aston,” I walked towards him, “I saw everything, I saw you push her away..” He smiled. “If she comes back again, I swear she’ll regret it.” “She won’t,” he said. He picked me up hugging me twirling me around. “I love you, let’s go to Hawaii.” “Okay, I love you too, “I replied.

Aston and I made our way to the airport without pap’s seeing us and pretty soon we were on our way to Hawaii. “I can’t believe were actually here Ast,” I said as we walked off the terminal. “Me either, but I’m glad we are,” he smiled taking my hand as we rode to the hotel. Turns out Ast invited the boys and their girlfriends on the trip too. We all met up checking in and then we went to dinner. We cut up, bantered and had drinks after the boys went for a walk while us girls sat round the table gossiping. “So..Aston has a stalker..” I said. “What? Really? Makes me wonder if Marvin has any,” Keshani asked. “Yeah,” I replied and told them the story. Kylie and Haley ordered more drinks as I finished the story. “That’s odd, I mean, I know they’ve got some fans who follow them to concerts and stuff but a psychotic ex…I’ve never heard of those with the boys before,” Haley said. “Yeah, Reesh gets girls yelling at him but I don’t believe he has any crazy ex’s...but they are famous so I suppose it’s bound to happen sooner or later,” Kylie replied sighing. “I’d kick her butt if I were you,” Keshani added as we talked about what to do and the rest of us laughed. “Well, I’m thinking she might have followed us on this trip…she follows Aston everywhere…” I said. “Well, then we’ll just have to teach her a lesson,” Haley smiled as we picked up our glasses. “To getting Katie,” we cheered drinking. A while later the boys came back and we all ventured to our rooms. We made plans for breakfast in the morning. I only drank one drink so I felt okay but Aston drank about 5 beers so he was feeling buzzed. “Come to bed with me,” he smiled pulling me down with him into  the pillows hugging and kissing me. I laughed as we fell back onto the bed falling asleep in the dark.

I woke up to Aston sleeping, his warm breath on my neck, arms wrapped around me under the covers. I turned over so I was facing him. “Hey,” he said moving so our noses were touching. “Hey, sorry I woke you,” I replied. “Not your fault, I was already up, thinking,” he answered. “bout?” “Us,” he smiled, “You make me happy, I’m happy we met, I love you so much.” “Awww, I love you too Ast, a lot,” I said. He smiled. The clock read 7:03 am. “Want to get up?” I asked Ast sitting up. He moaned shaking his head pulling me back down, “Nope. It’s way too early. Let’s go back to sleep.” “Ast, we’re suppose to meet everyone for breakfast,” I replied. “Yeah, at like ten, babe we’re on vacation, the boys won’t want to be up this early either,” he said putting the covers over me. “Ast, you go back to sleep, I’ll meet the girls then,” I said kissing his forehead. “Mhm..” he trailed off falling back to sleep. I covered him up and went getting ready. I text the girls and we agreed to meet downstairs letting the boys sleep to discuss our plan. By the time I got downstairs Keshani, and Kylie were there but Haley wasn’t. “Where’s Haley guys?” I asked them. As we walked to the breakfast buffet Kylie said laughing, “Apparently, Haley couldn’t get away from JB, She was preoccupied if you get what I’m saying.” Keshani and I busted out laughing too. We got our plates piling on breakfast before sitting down at a table. “So, I saw Katie last night,” I said. “What?” Keshani said, “Where?” “On our floor, she was walking down the hallway when I helped Ast to our room, I don’t think she saw me though,” I replied. “That’s just weird,” Kylie added. “Yeah, super weird, he has a psycho stalker,”Keshani answered. “Yeah, so I’ve got a plan, I’ll show you guys the pics of her and we’ll track her down she’ll act like she’s all nice and stuff to you guys and then we get her tell her to leave Ast alone once and for all.” I opened my phone passing around the pictures of her practically naked. “If you ask me, she looks like a slut,” Keshani said. “Yeah, she does,” Kylie added laughing passing it back to me, “and fake, fake tan, fake boobs, fake nails, fake bleach blonde I’m a bimbo hair.” We planned out everything and then waited for the boys and Hayley to come downstairs. A hour later they all trailed down the boardwalk to our table joining us. “Hey lovelies,” Ast said kissing my cheek sitting with a plate filled with enough food for thirty people. “What were you girls talking about?” Marvin asked hugging Keshani before sitting beside her. “Oh nothing, just how Hayley had a good time with JB before breakfast, isn’t that right?” Kylie laughed causing Reesh to laugh too. We all started laughing and Hayley turned bright red. “It’s perfectly natural,” JB stated causing us to laugh even more.

A week later:

We’d told Hayley the plan and started trailing Katie as she followed around Aston. It bugged me to see her think she could get close to him again. It was over she should have given up. Keshani and Kylie were “becoming fast friends” with Katie as Hayley and I watched her when the boys weren’t doing things with us. Eventually we’d hatched a plan. Keshani and Kylie would pretend to be stalking the boys too and help Katie try n get Ast alone and then I’d confront her. The plan was working out perfectly. I had gone to “the beach” and Aston was alone in the room sleeping. Keshani text me to come up as Katie was making her way up on our floor. I took the back stairs which Katie thought were too good for her and waited around the corner. A couple minutes later I heard Katie talking. “You sure this is the right room?” “Yeah this is it, I’m sure.” “I’m nervous,” Katie said. “Don’t be, I’m sure he’ll be thrilled to see you,” Keshani ushered her, “Go on knock on the door.” “Alright,” she replied and I heard her walking. I moved and walked out, “Don’t even think about it Katie, this is enough.””Who are you?” she asked. “Aston’s girlfriend,” I answered. “And my friend,” Keshani said walking over to me. “What Kesh?” Katie stood there. “Yeah, you need to stop harassing the guys ,they don’t like it,” she said. Kylie and Hayley walked out of JB’s room, “Yeah, and we don’t either.” “You don’t understand. I need to talk to Aston, or one of the other boys if he won’t listen,” Katie said. “Why? You’re stalking them, that’s against the law,” I replied  yelling as they  walked over to us. “I’ve been trying to tell Aston for the past six months, I’m pregnant with his baby, I even took a DNA test and everything, it�t downstairs letting the boys wered  yelling back showing her stomach. It was big but not big enough to fully see. “What?” I questioned. “Yeah, I’ve been going everywhere they are trying to tell him, he knows because he took the test,” she answered. “What about the pics? The ones you sent him?” Kylie asked. “That was me before, I thought if isent them maybe he’d answer me and I could tell him, look I don’t want Aston anymore, I just want him to take care of his son,that’s all,” she said. The boys must of heard cause they started coming out. Aston was last. “Is it true?” Is he yours?” I asked tears in my eyes. He didn’t answer just looked shocked…..

“I don’t know, honestly that’s why I took the test but she never told me the results,” he sighed. Tears streamed down my cheeks and the girls came hugging me. “I’ve got them here,” she said holding up the paper. I walked over beside Ast as he held them wiping away the tears. I read the paper, my eyes going to the bottom, Aston Merrygold 99.99% inaccurate only the in had been marked out. “I have a baby…” Aston trailed off. “Oh no you don’t, hold on, look she marked out the in so it looks like accurate with White Out…” I said accusing her. “What? I didn’t,” Katie defended. “Oh, come off it Katie, we know you did it, you’ve been trailing us for months now, besides that, when you were with Aston your job was to fix documents, admit it, you just want to use him,” JB stated. “That’s not true. He’s supposed to be with me,” she said getting angry. She moved showing that her stomach was fake cause she turned one way and it went the other. She was wearing a body suit, the kind they have in doctors so women can see what it’s like to carry a baby.  “Oh my God,” Keshani said. Katie just stood there staring. “Katie, you know you can go to jail for stalking and a whole lot of other charges, If I were you, I would leave right now and leave us alone,” Reesh said. “For good this time,” Marvin added. Katie turned storming off. Aston was really tore up about it I guess he really believed she was pregnant with his baby. After everyone cleared we went back into our room. He sat on the bed and I sit beside him. “Ast, why didn’t you tell me?” I asked. He was quiet for a minute then he spoke, “I was scared, I figured you wouldn’t go out with me if I had a baby, I wasn’t sure it was mine anyways, I suppose I was scared.” “Ast, you can tell me anything, you should know that. If were going to be together, we’ve got to talk about stuff like that, even if it frightens you.” “I’m sorry,” Aston whispered. “It’s okay, I’m always here for you Ast,” I replied pulling him into a hug as I felt my shirt become wet. Tears were falling from his eyes, “I just can’t believe she’d do that, why would you pretend to be pregnant, and fake a DNA test to be with someone? She almost tore us apart. ” “Aston look at me,” I took his head in my hands looking into his eyes smiling, “I wouldn’t have left, I’m not going anywhere, I love you remember? You silly boy.” I saw a slight smile and he pulled me into a hug, “I’m glad I met you.” “Me too Ast, me too,” I replied.

Epilogue

Two years later

The next month the tour started and we all rode the bus together throughout the UK.  It was the best summer of my life. Katie never came around again. Aston accepted she lied but it turns out he will be a father soon. This summer our twins are due. JLS are working on their 6^th album. They’re planning a world tour. Everyone else is still together too, Marvin & Keshani, Reesh & Kylie and Hayley & JB.  The boys still have crazy fans but none as crazy as Katie.
